Now in its 7th year, the Tawas Point Birding Festival has gained nationwide recognition as a top destination for observing spring bird migration.  More than 250 birders registered for the festival and flocked to Tawas and Oscoda communities in 2011.

2012 GUEST SPEAKERS will include:

 Jon Dunn will be the Thursday evening, May 17, keynote speaker at the Tawas Point Birding Festival.  Identifying Warblers at Tawas Point, Michigan, and Beyond. Jon has extensive knowledge of the identification and distribution of North American birds, and has published numerous papers in a wide variety of journals.

On Friday, May 18, Michigan author, Bill Rapai, will give a keynote presentation on his new book . Kirtland’s Warbler: The Story of a Bird’s Fight Against Extinction and the People Who Saved It.

Saturday, May 19, 4:00 pm,  Harry Hussey & Caleb Putnam. Caleb will present Across the Pond: European and American perspectives on trans-Atlantic vagrancy and long-distance migration. He currently works for National Audubon as Michigan’s Important Bird Areas Coordinator.  Harry Hussey is an expert birder from Cork, Ireland, and member of the Irish Rare Birds Committee. His topic will be about birds “across the pond”.
