November’s Birdability Book Club is going to be such a good one.
On November 18, 2026 at 7:00 P.M. ET, we’ll be discussing Birdsong by the Seasons: A Year of Listening to Birds by Donald Kroodsma, a book that invites us to pay close attention to birdsong across the year and to the lives unfolding all around us through sound.
We are also delighted to share a beautiful new review of the book by Susan Glass, a blind birder, poet, and longtime lover of birds who has returned to this book many times over the years.
Susan writes:
“I’m 70 years old, and it feels to me as if I’ve loved birds for my entire life, but definitely since before I could talk.”
She describes herself as a slow birder who loves bird sits, quiet, and “letting the birds speak to my ears when they are ready to do so.” That perspective makes her reflections on Kroodsma’s work especially rich.
