Hip hip hurray! We have hit a record 2026 breeding season with pairs and fledglings! We reached a total pair count of 99 pairs this season which is 11 more than our 2025 season record! And the most since ESA listing! And so far we have fledged 155 wild chicks which is another record. Our previous record was 150 wild chicks in 2022. And we still have about 12 fledglings out there to possibly fledge!
Congratulations team! We are making great strides towards recovery and we couldn't do it without all the amazing folks from numerous organizations and all the monitors and volunteers who put in their time and energy! Thank you to all who helped make this season a success! Also, want to mention how grateful we are for the support from Great Lakes Restoration Initiative which funds a big part of the recovery efforts!
